PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote education and the arts with a primary focus on Hellenic heritage and culture. KEFI will accomplish this by organizing workshops and instruction focusing on instruction of Greek, Pontian and Cypriot dance and song to youth and adults in the city of Winnipeg. KEFI will promote diversity and advance the public’s appreciation of the arts by providing the public with performances of Greek, Pontian and Cypriot dance and song at various events across the province, the country and the world, as opportunity permits.

VISION

We believe that by learning, performing and promoting Greek dance and song. The members will develop a sense of pride and passion for Hellenic heritage that will serve to encourage the preservation of Hellenic culture. The skills and knowledge obtained from preparation and presentation of performances will provide members valuable life skills that we believe will help develop active members and leaders in the Winnipeg Greek community and beyond.

MISSION

KEFI preserves and promotes Hellenic culture through dance, song and music and encourages member involvement and the promotion of Hellenic culture and pride.

VALUES

Inclusion & Respect – Fostering an environment where participants are made to feel welcome. Members are encouraged to learn dance and to work towards improving their skills by attending class consistently with a positive attitude. Everyone is treated with respect, encouraged to express their ideas and are listened to with an open mind. We openly recognize the diverse level of ability and skill within the group. 

Passion/Kefi – Always demonstrating a love and passion for Greek dance and culture through enthusiastic performances and involvement at community events.

Professional/Commitment – Committed to attending practices as well as representing the group with our best image and performance. Staying united as a group and always adhering to the KEFI Code of Conduct.

Community – Fostering a sense of community within KEFI through encouragement and support, as well as, with the greater Greek community. Working as a team to support each other in development.

Communication & Transparency – Making every effort to be open and communicative with each other, and inclusive in decision-making. Providing positive reinforcement and adhering to proper lines of communication as outlined in the KEFI Communication Guideline.
